2025 Range Information - Please Read

*GTA promotes safe handling & use of legally owned weapons. Matches & events are open to non-members unless otherwise specified. NFA weapons welcome, all NFA rules apply.

Eye/ear protection required for your safety. Children under 18 yrs. of age must be accompanied by parent, legal guardian or responsible adult who accepts liability for their actions.

*GTA membership RECOMENDS that you be a member of the National Rifle Association.

* Indoor toilet, PLEASE clean up after yourself, sink works,<<<< WATER IS NOT DRINKABLE>>>> Please do not flush any female products , or ANY WIPES.

**PLEASE READ: Use of firearms are inherently dangerous & could result in severe injury or death. We will not tolerate unsafe shooters, persons, behavior or illegal weapons on the range. **

*** Greenport is a MUZZLE DOWN range, meaning unless your weapon is on a target the muzzle must be holstered or in the low position pointing the muzzle at the ground.

*AT NO TIME SHALL THE MUZZLE POINT TO THE SKY.* SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFO

*Please maintain this position with all shooters as if we have an AD then the bullet needs to be kept in this range, NO exception!! We need to practice this so our neighbors will be safe and we can continue to shoot here.

*CHAMBER FLAGS will be required when long guns are not in your POSITIVE control.

*Please hang the rope to the plate rack up when done. Helps when mowing.

*NO LOADING OF ANY WEAPON, UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE FIRING LINE. ALL WEAPONS WILL BE UNLOADED IN A SAFE AREA, OR ON THE FIRING LINE.

*If you are in a private class you will need to follow the instructors wishes whether its a cold range or a hot range for their class only! This is the instructors discretion.

*Greenport is machine gun friendly, nothing bigger than 40 mil. Please do not bring illegal weapons onto this range. Bring your paperwork with your weapon as I may want to see it.

Stage 1 is Hostage Stage...22 rounds minimum, barricades, swingers, hallways
Stage2 is 5 Yard Roundup...10 rounds, no makeups, cover garment
Stage 3 is Mozambique Drill, 2 mags, 3 rounds each
Stage 4 is...Card Shark, 14 rounds minimum, dealing cards and shooting steel
Stage 5 is Nine is Enough...Two cardboards, 3 mags, 3 rounds each, no makeups
Stage 6 is...Steel Challenge Ala Travis 5 rounds minimum
Stage 7 is... Falling Snow Plate Racks, minimum 6 rounds
(Stages 6&7 two runs, best time scores)
I have added the Falling Plates to Single Stack. Minimum 6 rounds. 2 runs if you want, fastest will count. Rounds minimum 85ish for the match.

This is a fundraising event to build new benches for the club. We aim to have the best possible facility for all future matches.

The 2025 season begins on May 3rd! OPEN EVERY THURSDAY 4P - DARK THRU OCTOBER 2025 CLUB MEETING 1ST THURSDAY EVERY MONTH 7PM

Membership badges will be available that day for returning members who have renewed. In person registration will also be available that day for both returning and new members. Interested in becoming a new member? Please see below.

The Event Calendar has been updated BELOW for the 2025 season, should you be interested. All currently scheduled matches, meetings, and events have been posted there.

Check back on occasion for updates as we get further into the year. As we have done in the past, match details and registration links will be posted as they are made available,

typically two weeks before a given match.

New Members

Prospective members must have a sponsor when applying for membership. Application is done in person and yearly dues are paid at the time the application is submitted. Once the application is approved, prospective members are placed on a probationary period before being granted full membership status.

The probationary period includes a four-event-to-membership requirement. A prospective member must spend a total of four events with different GTA members (which can include their sponsor). At least one of these events must be a match activity hosted by GTA. The main purpose of this requirement is to familiarize the prospective member with the Club's rules and facilities and to help them meet and get to know other GTA members.

During the probationary period, the prospective member must be chaperoned by a GTA member to participate in any shooting activities. At the end of each event, be it a match or just a typical Club night, the GTA member acting as a mentor will initial and date the prospective member's badge, so long as they find that the prospective member's behavior and demeanor demonstrate a suitable commitment to safety. After receiving four endorsements, the Board will review the prospective member's application and either approve membership or, if necessary, require additional mentoring. Additionally, after being granted full membership, a new member cannot sponsor other prospective members during their first year.

GTA has never been about recruiting top elite shooters.  We are about ensuring everyone contributes to a safe and fun shooting sports environment and that GTA can continue to provide this venue for the shooting community. We like to give the novice shooters a place to learn many skills. Many move on to other venue, once they learn how the shooting world works.

We’ve never had a problem, and we will not have any in the future. GTA will continue to be a safe shooting environment where we can enjoy shooting. We will not tolerate any kind of horseplay or shooting stunts. I will not allow some putz with a gun to ruin GTA for everyone.

Eye and ear protection are mandatory for members, guests and match participants. We will remain a muzzle down range. Reloads with your pistol muzzle pointed over the backstop is not tolerated. Discharge a weapon over the backstop and you’re gone. Safe the kool stuff you see on TV and in video games for someone else’s range.

GTA will continue to be a cold range. You may not load your weapon until you’re on the firing line and you have been authorized to do so.

GTA Concealed Carry – check for updates

One long-time goal of GTA is to have a safe facility where members can practice their CCW skills. The green and white sticker seen on some badges signify the member has his or her CCW license and has gotten permission to carry a loaded weapon concealed on the range.

GTA encourages the safe practice of CCW skills. We have a few rules you must comply with.

1 You must get permission and have your badge on.

2 Your weapon must be concealed. LEOs must display their shield to carry in any manner.

3 You may practice on any unoccupied range or as a participant in a group activity.

4 The match director/instructor/activity leader needs to be notified and has the right to make their activity a cold range requiring everyone to load on command at the firing line.

5 You may carry a concealed weapon and shoot a second weapon. For example, you could carry a .380 in a pocket holster and shoot 1911 in competition and nobody needs to know.

Do we have to say this? Unsafe activity can result in losing your membership.

Center fire rifle cartridges shall be fired ONLY on the rifle range with the exception of club sponsored events.  The use of any other range for testing, sighting or practice may be done with the land owner’s permission. NEW RED TARGETS ARE 22 CAL ONLY.

 

This a Muzzle Down Range

*** GTA is a Muzzle down COLD RANGE, meaning unless your weapon is on a target the muzzle must be in the low ready position pointing the muzzle at the ground, or any handguns must be holstered. COLD RANGE means no loaded weapons of any kind on the property, unless you are on a range to practice, OR you have been approved to carry hot, ON this range with your CCW license through GTA.

*AT NO TIME SHALL THE MUZZLE POINT TO THE SKY.*

*Please maintain this position with all shooters as if we have an AD then the bullet needs to be kept in this range, (IN THE GROUND IS IN OUR RANGE) NO exception!! We need to practice this so our neighbors will be safe and we can continue to shoot here. No muzzle should ever point higher than any target on the range, or above the foul line in the shoot house area

First Aid / Trauma Kits

GTA has several First Aid / Trauma kits which are available should the unthinkable occur.  They have major and minor injury supplies, info sheets and alarm horns. They will be kept in the container and deployed to the ranges during events. There is information on contacting emergency response personnel and club members are urged to inspect the kits and become familiar with the contents.

As always there will be the medical kit in the classroom too. .
